Things I Quilted in March

I was pretty busy in March.  I managed to finish 2 entire quilts, a wall hanging with original artwork and new technique (stained glass quilting), and complete 5 more Civil War Sampler blocks.  Be sure to scroll all the way down to read about a funny story about Em.

Quilted Dragonfly Wall Hanging for Andrea - 11 x 14
This is my cute little sister holding up the wall hanging.  Hi Kensley!!!

Quilt #28 - 52 x 53
Kensley's 7th birthday was in March and she wanted a rainbow quilt.  I love this quilt.  It's bright, colorful and made ENTIRELY from my scrap bin!  What a great way to use up all my scraps!

Em loved this quilt too.  She kept doing somersaults on it.  My friend Barb thinks it looks like she's playing Twister!

Em says, "Whadya mean I don't get to keep this one!?!"

Quilt #29 - 52 x 61
Got this pattern from Little Lady Patchwork her original pattern was found here on Moda Bake Shop's website.  Awesome websites, both of them.  Great free pattern too!  The fabric I chose for this quilt was from Robyn Pandolph's line, Rue Saint Germaine.  Beautiful colors!

This quilt went to my awesome Aunt Mary!  Her handsome little helper is my cousin, Kyle.  She made me not one, but TWO baby quilts for Em!  She's an amazing quilter!  I only wish I lived closer to her so that she could teach me all that she knows and help me improve my quilting skills.  Miss you Aunt Mary, you need to come visit!!!  Em says she wants to see her Gma Mary!

And for my avid followers who might remember, I started a Civil War Sampler quilt at the beginning of the year and have been doing a block a week.  Courtesy of Barbara Brackman over at this site here

Here are blocks 9 - 13

Block 9 - Birds in the Air

Block 10 - Lincoln's Platform

Block 13 - Little Blue Basket

FUNNY EM STORY:

She's been talking a lot more lately.  Really expanding her vocabulary.  She also likes to mimic whatever we do.  So if we laugh, she laughs, if we cough, she coughs, if we sneeze, she fake sneezes, you get the picture.

Well yesterday she was playing on the stairs and I heard her fake sneezing.
Then I heard her say, "Bless You".
Then, "You okay?"
 Then she said, "Goodness sakes!"

She had this entire conversation with herself.  Brian and I just looked at each other and busted up laughing.  It's funny to hear your kid repeat what she's heard.
Usually when she gets to sneezing, she sneezes 4 or 5 times in a row and after she's done, I always ask her if she's okay, then I tend to say, goodness sakes that was a lot!  And apparently that has stuck with her!

Better her repeat that than other things I'm sure she's heard in this house... hehehehe

OH and in case you wondering how my tulips were doing, since Em has taken a liking to my potted plants that I blogged about earlier.  They are fairing very well!

My tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths all seemed to survive her pruning!

And I have several tulips sprouting up in these planters as well.  Perhaps my lil' gardener knew what she was doing after all!

♥ Hope you all had a great weekend! ♥

  1. Quite an accomplishment Beverly. A lot of wins there. Love your Spring garden. I think I must remember that for next year. It put a smile on my face.

  4. Thanks Mae! I started in January of 2010. I checked out a book from the library called, "Quilting for Dummies" and took off from there!

Because the lupus keeps me indoors a lot (direct sunlight tends to send me into a flare), I've had to find hobbies inside. Plus this also helps with the arthritis in my hands... the more I quilt the less pain medication I have to take for joint pain. I think it must keep them loose or something?

How about you, do you quilt?
