This child... sometimes I wonder about her!
But one thing is for sure,
she definitely keeps things interesting around here.
♥
And I think Little Sister is following in her footsteps!
Brooklyn absolutely adores Emma. She's always trying to see where Emma is or what she's doing.
And this has got to be my most favorite pic yet!
So cute.

Emma has recently gotten into "imaginative play". Her favorite costume/character lately is this gladiator helmet and knight sword. Pretty much every day she plays with it, even sleeps with it on.
She has such a wide range of characters.
For instance, some days, she wants to be a "pretty, pretty princess" and I paint her nails, do her hair, and she prances around in a frilly dress and my high heeled shoes.
Then other times, she's a total tomboy. She won't let me even NEAR her hair, she wears her bib overalls, no shoes, and wants to explore everything.
And then there are days where she wants to be a knight and save Brooklyn from the fiery dragon in the tallest tower---- can you tell we've been watching Shrek lately?
Where ever her imagination takes her, I'm always up for the adventure. I just sit back and enjoy the show. I think a big part of finding out who you are is being allowed the freedom to explore as much and as many different things as possible, without fear of being judged.
I would hate for her to not play a role simply because that's not who I would be or for her to think I wouldn't like her if she wanted to be a certain character.
Creativity must not be boxed in. Be whom ever you want my dear. Mommy loves you no matter what.

Brian says "Thank you" for all the calls, texts, FB messages, cards, and gifts. He had a wonderful birthday and really enjoyed Emma's homemade gifts.
Last week I used some blue painter's tape to make "stepping squares" in our living for Emma to play/practice hopping/be silly with. And she thinks it's the greatest thing ever.
She has the BEST Daddy too. He hops right behind her. Oh I wish you could hear her giggle when they do this. Who would have thought that tape on the floor and a little imagination could provide so much entertainment!?!

And what about the baby you ask? She's 7 months old and just itching to be mobile.
Brooklyn is constantly wanting to stand against the furniture. She hasn't started to actually crawl yet, but she's scootin' pretty good.
She keeps asking me if I have my running shoes on because she says that I'm going to need them to keep up with her!
This is her favorite way to spend the afternoon!
The transition to table food is going.... so-so. She's not so fond of squash, sweet potatoes or carrots, but give her some peas and green beans and she's in heaven. She also likes apples, pears, and even prunes.
AND I think I might just have a "Lefty". She almost always reaches for the spoon with her left hand. So we shall see...

Finished the baby blanket I've been working on. Emma was sad she didn't get to keep it. I think she liked the way it felt. I made it using a bobble stitch, so one side is very bumpy while the other side is smooth.
I think a full sized afghan like this would be very cool... sigh... if only I had the time. Perhaps some decade, I'll make myself one.

Health Update!!!!
I have such great news! I saw the RA this week and he said that my lupus activity is very low, my labs look good, AND there is absolutely NO MORE PROTEIN spilling from my kidneys!
For those who have followed my lupus journey and pregnancies, you know this was a major concern, for both me and my babies. And I'm truly grateful for each and every one you for your prayers and positive thoughts that were sent my way during those difficult times.
I have the BEST support system!
Thank you and love you all!
God is simply amazing. I honestly believe only He could have healed my kidneys as quickly and completely. So incredibly blessed to be this healthy and have the energy to really enjoy my two miracle babies.
Life is good.
My ever inquisitive child has become more and more curious about my arm bruises. Every month I have to go have labs done. This is how my RA monitors the lupus. And more often than not, I end up with a pretty nasty bruise where they draw the blood.
I swear this phlebotomist was doing it with her eyes closed.
It doesn't hurt, just looks really bad.
Emma gets really sad when she sees my bruises.
She will ask me if my lupus did that to me.
Then she asks me if I need a Band-Aid.
And before she's done she'll give me kisses and tell me to go lay on the couch and... it will all be better after we watch Wreck it Ralph (again).
(clever... very clever... I see what you're doing there, little Miss Smarty Pants)
Before now she's not really been too aware of my lupus.
Before now she's not really been too aware of my lupus.
But here lately, there have been lots of questions...
Why do I take medicine every day?
Why do I take so many medicines?
Will I always have to go to the hospital with the needles?
Do we get to see Dr. Ahmed this week?
(she LOVES going to his office for some reason)
So far the answers I've given her have satisfied her curiosity enough to *inform* but not *alarm* her.
Oh sweet, caring, compassionate child of mine, I pray that neither you or your sister have to live with lupus.
Oh sweet, caring, compassionate child of mine, I pray that neither you or your sister have to live with lupus.
But for now, we shall celebrate.
Because God is good.
And we have a lot to be thankful for.
Hope you all had a great week!
Thanks for stopping by.
