Today is March 21st
or
3/21
which is also shorthand for
Trisomy 21
If you know me or my family at all, then you know about this awesome dude:
He's pretty much the coolest person I know.
My brother and I have been close buddies since the day he was born.
and every day since.
And from the moment I introduced Brian to Wes, they have also been the best of friends.
Probably one of the sweetest things to witness is,
Wes around his nieces
The PROUD uncle with his niece Emma
and again, the PROUD uncle holding his niece Brooklyn.
He is so gentle and kind and loving towards my girls.
What can I say:
I beg you to read the Down Syndrome Creed and perhaps the next time you let it slip, maybe at least you'll pause and think about what it is you really mean to say and use that beautiful brain of yours to find a different vocabulary word.
Because whether or not you "meant" to, you ARE talking about my brother and I take offense to it. Besides... it's just rude and I'm sure your momma raised you better than that. I know mine did. ♥
Happy Down Syndrome Day Wes. You have been the biggest blessing and teacher in my life and I'm forever grateful for your unwavering love, forgiveness, patience, and kindness.
Hurry up summer time - we can't wait till Uncle Wes comes out to stay with us!
Love you always,
Brian, Bev, Emma and Brooklyn
